Football Development & Support Centre
The Football Development and Support Centre is a structure that oversees four main areas – The Academy, Scouting, Sports Medicine and Equipment Procurement.
It is based at the club’s Staplewood Training Ground in Marchwood where the club's strategy to evolve and produce best-in-class practices is formed across the range of its responsibilities.
Known as the FDSC, the comprehensive infrastructure provides top class support for matters involving the first-team, right the way through into the Saints Academy, bringing it in line with the leading football clubs across Europe.
The Under-18s team is made up of Academy scholars who begin the development phase of their careers. Under-16 players are also often called up into this squad to provide them with experience before they begin scholarships.
The U21s are led by Head Development Coach Martin Hunter and play competitively in the Barclays Professional Development League. In these matches, the squad can be supplemented by three overage players.
