The defender, whose Saints contract expires next summer, moves to Carrow Road on loan until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
Hooiveld joined Southampton on transfer deadline day in August 2011, and went on to play a crucial role in the side’s promotion to the Premier League. The Dutchman made 41 appearances during his first season at St Mary’s.
Hooiveld scored some crucial goals in that first year on the south coast, including in midweek wins over West Ham, Hull City and Peterborough.
A hugely popular member of the dressing room, Jos played 28 times the following season, including in memorable home victories over Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Opportunities were limited for Hooiveld last season and, with his chances looking similarly restricted in the new campaign, he now moves on to join the Canaries for the current campaign.
Southampton Football Club would like to place on record its sincere gratitude for the part Jos played in the team’s growth over the past three years, and pay tribute to the professionalism he has shown during his time at St Mary’s. Everybody connected with the club wishes Jos the very best for the future.
