Koeman’s side will welcome Crystal Palace, Watford and West Bromwich Albion to St Mary’s in the space of just seven days, and following defeat to Norwich City, the Saints boss believes it’s a good time to have plenty of matches.
That run starts in the FA Cup with Crystal Palace – a side who beat Saints 1-0 just before Christmas – and Koeman hopes this time round it can be the start of a return to form.
“We know that we are in a difficult situation about points and about position on the table,” Koeman told youtube.com/southamptonfc
“We have to change that. We will prepare for next week – first Crystal Palace and then we have two in a row at home.
“Of course, we need points. It’s not the position on the table where we like to be.
“We like to win – that’s the best medicine to get the confidence back and to get the mentality back.”
Koeman is also calling on his side to regain their focus as they look to progress in the FA Cup and climb up the Barclays Premier League table.
“We have to change some disciplinary things in the group, because we need more focus. If you’re not focused, I can’t manage a player,” Koeman added.
“It’s the most difficult situation until now, of course. Now we have to keep togetherness.
“That is what I expect and that is not what we showed (against Norwich), because that is against that message.”
