New signing Charlie Austin is the cover star, with the striker opening up on his move to the club and how he’s had a dream start to life at Southampton.

Moving to St Mary’s has seen Austin reunited with former Burnley man Jay Rodriguez, and we also caught up with the Saints number nine about rekindling that partnership on the south coast.

Austin’s memorable debut prompted us to look back over some other memorable first games for players in a Saints shirt, with a possible home debut record also in the striker’s sights this weekend.

Elsewhere, #InTheBox returns with James Ward-Prowse answering the questions randomly selected by Fraser Forster.

Under-21s defender Alfie Jones is the subject of our academy interview, with the youngster reflecting on Saints’ exit from the U21 Premier League Cup and what he’s got to do to impress in the remainder of the season.

There’s also a full report and action photos from the trips to Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as our ‘fan in the stand’ perspective.

What’s more, we continue to look back at the last season of football at The Dell, find out more about Southampton’s footballers in World War II, and hear some further anecdotes from Herbie Taylor’s time as a tour guide at SFC.

All this plus the thoughts of Ronald Koeman and Kelvin Davis, provide you with plenty of pre and post-match reading.

SAINTS is available to pre-order online now at saintsmatchdaymagazine.co.uk where you can also find back issues and order future editions from this season.

Saturday’s edition of the magazine will also be on sale – as always – in and around St Mary’s Stadium, priced at £4.
