The manager cut a frustrated figure at the weekend, but sees the Boxing Day trip to West London as an opportunity to get a result that will keep Saints in the mix of teams staying clear of the bottom three.
“All of the games are going to be pressurised so what we’ve got to make sure we do is regroup and get ourselves ready for Fulham,” he explained.
“They’re good,” Nigel says of Martin Jol’s side. “They play a 4-4-1-1 very well with (Dimitar) Berbatov between the lines. They’re well organised defensively and as a unit.
“It’s similar to what we go and do so they’ll be a team that is difficult to break down, but one we believe that we can score against.”
Earlier in the season, Saints played out a 2-2 draw with the Cottagers at St Mary’s, though Nigel reflects that at the time he felt it was a winnable fixture.
“It’s a game we thought that we could have won at our place so it gives us confidence going away to Fulham and being competitive to get something from the contest.”
