Having played for his country this summer, the Croatian defender has been given an extended break and is due to begin pre-season training in the near future.
And Rodriguez – who started life in Hampshire a year ago having signed from his hometown club Burnley – says he's confident that the new boy will be immediately made to feel at home.
"It's nerve-wracking when you come to a new team, but the lads here made me feel really welcome," Jay reflected to Saints Player
"It was a good experience to meet a bunch of new players, and the way they welcomed me in was really nice.
"I'm sure we'll do that again so it'll be a nice experience for him (Lovren) as well."
Rodriguez was back at Staplewood this morning for the first official day of the First Team's pre-season schedule.
And the 23-year-old says he's glad to be back in the thick of things after a six-week summer hiatus.
"It's come round really quickly, which is probably a good thing," he admitted.
"You do try to switch off, but you are waiting for when the fixtures come out.
"Towards the end [of the break] you start missing it and you want to get back, so we're glad to be here. Now we will work hard and hopefully have a good pre-season.
"As we saw last year, every game in the Premier League is really hard because it's the best league to be in.
"As long as we look after ourselves in pre-season, I think that'll stand us in good stead."
