Jason Puncheon can see the club continuing on its upward trajectory following another year of climbing the ladder of English football.

Puncheon, who made 32 league appearances for the club in his most settled season at St Mary’s, enjoyed a particularly memorable campaign, scoring seven times in all competitions and earning the team some vital points along the way.

A 1-1 draw with Stoke City on the final day might not have made it into the highlights of the season, but the opportunity to enjoy the occasion in front of a sell-out home crowd, was more than enough for the winger to savour.

"It's a beautiful day,” Puncheon beamed. “The best thing for us is that we didn't go into this game needing three points, so it was good for us to go out like this.”

Puncheon’s form particularly over the middle part of the season, went a long way towards the signing of a new contract for the 26 year-old, with the midfielder finally realising his ambitions in the top-flight.

"It's been unbelievable,” he surmised. “It's been a massive turnaround for myself and the football club has grown and grown.”

A 14th-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League has forged strong foundations for the club to build on, and Jason can’t wait to be a part of it again next year.

“It's more than exciting,” he said. “This is the third year in a row that's been good, and now we look forward to next season.”
