Schneiderlin: 'Everything is possible'

Morgan Schneiderlin says last night's team-building exercises have left the Saints squad feeling capable of reaching the highest heights in the coming season.

The midfielder and his teammates took part in a motivational session led by Xesco Aspar, the former coach of the European Cup-winning FC Barcelona Handbol team.

Among the tasks set for the squad was one that saw them walk across hot coals in an attempt to challenge the players' perceptions of their capabilities.

And it had the desired effect on reigning Player of the Season Schneiderlin, who has lofty aspirations ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

"It showed that when you're scared of something or there's something you think you can't do, it's always possible," he told Saints Player

"Yesterday we learned that we're never at 100% of our capacity and that we've always got ten per cent left in our body. We can always reach the top and there's no limit in our preparations.

"Next year everything is possible. Of course, some people think that [finishing in the] top half is good for us, but we want to reach even better.

"That's why we're training so hard," continued the Frenchman as he spoke on the seventh day of the squad's training camp in Spain.

"We knew that we'd up the tempo again this week. We're working under very warm conditions, and that's very good for the [coming] season.

"You can see that everyone is feeling better and better. The tempo has gone up and that will put us in perfect condition for the next few weeks.

"We have almost four weeks until the season starts, so that's quite a long way still. We all know that we are going to be in perfect condition."

Away from the training pitch, there has been plenty of time for Mauricio Pochettino's squad to bond ahead of the coming season.

Earlier this week the players took to the team hotel's driving range, with Morgan getting his hands on a golf club for the first time in his life to mixed results, as you can see in our Pre-Season Uncovered video from earlier this week.

"I heard there's a video of me on the website!" he laughed.

"I've never played golf before so it was quite good banter. The lads took some enjoyment out of watching me miss the ball every time, but that's how the spirit gets even better.

"We've all been on holiday so we all missed the banter between the lads. We are a very strong squad with a strong spirit, so it's a joy to be with them all of the time.

"18 days is very long to be away from our families, so it's hard mentally but it's good because we all like each-other so the time goes quickly.

"We are very happy, and the staff make sure that everyone is never bored so it's been very good."
