The league schedule has been altered so that 22 teams will play in one national division, with the top four teams overall contesting semis & a final to determine the winner.
The teams involved will only play each other once, so home or away, with the following season seeing the reverse fixtures played.
Matches will typically be played on a Friday evening or Monday afternoon/evening slot. However, on top of that, this season also sees the introduction of Saturday 3pm kick-offs. Saints will host two fixtures at St Mary’s Stadium at this time against Aston Villa and Newcastle, whilst the First Team have an away fixture in the Barclays Premier League.
The new campaign begins with a trip to Liverpool on Monday 12th August, and the first home fixture arrives shortly afterwards, on Friday 16th August when Chelsea visit St Mary’s on the eve of the new First Team season.
All other home games that have not been mentioned will be played at the Staplewood Training Ground in 2013/14 where Manchester United, Fulham, and Tottenham Hotspur, will be amongst the opponents.
Manchester United are the current holders of the 21s league, after beating Spurs in last year's Final at Old Trafford.
