Meet the Class of 2009 - Part One
The production line at the Saints Academy has stirred into life again as the latest crop of youngsters prepare for their first full season at the club. We welcome the class of 2009…
The Academy continues to go from strength to strength and following on from last season's double figure strong intake, an additional ten youngsters have signed up for the opportunity to become the Saints players of tomorrow.
Becoming a full-time scholar is major achievement in itself, but the opportunity to now break into the professional game is a chance that the Class of 2009 will want to grab with both hands.
Here are five of the ten who are settling into their new home at the Academy Lodge this week:

Dovey is a Southampton lad through and through who has signed for the club that he has always supported. Hailing from nearby Totton, he joined the Saints set-up in 2003 after being scouted at schoolboy level.

A Saints fan who joined the club at Under-13 level after he was scouted at representative trials. He reads the game well and joins the Academy from his home town of Basingstoke.

Strong, athletic player who progressed through the ranks in his home town of Taunton. Has represented Somerset at county level and played at Exeter's centre of excellence. Ben joined the club aged 13 after being scouted by the club whilst playing for Taunton.

Tall powerful centre back who joined the club at Under-15 level after being spotted playing in the Tyro League. Previously played at a high standard of Sunday league football and for his home town side, Alton United.

Rangy player in the middle of the park, who has been with the club since he was 8 years-old. Hails from Bournemouth and has represented Sunday league side Poole Town. Started three Under-18's fixtures last season.
