Saints' Under-18's side beat Aldershot Town 4-0 on Wednesday evening in the first round of the F.A Youth Cup.
Dave Puckett's side eventually ran out comfortable winners on the night at the Shots' EBB Stadium to set up a home clash with Hereford United in the second round.
The visitors started the game well and were deservedly in front before the break. Another telling set-piece from Callum McNish put the hosts' backline under pressure, and with defender Aarran Racine arriving to meet the ball, it was diverted into the back of the net off an Aldershot player to make it 1-0.
Racine and striker Sam Hoskins had further efforts cleared off the line, whilst Jack Dovey was in good form between the posts as he kept a clean sheet in tact going into the interval with one particularly strong save to maintain the lead at half time.
Saints continued to play good football through the midfield both centrally and out wide, in the second period whilst they reduced the home side to speculative long range attempts.
The cushion of a second goal arrived as a result of some lively play from Daryl McLean on the right before he timed a fantastic pass to Hoskins, who had made a clever run off the back of the defender to latch on to the through-ball before angling in a low drive.
As the youngsters maintained their good work, it wasn't long before they were celebrating again. McNish this time drove forward before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner giving the Shots' 'keeper no chance.
The visitors wrapped up the scoring with full back Sam Argent getting in on the act. Playing on the left side, he collected a loose ball on his stronger right foot and struck an equally good shot home to put the icing on the cake.
Youth Team Coach Puckett was understandably pleased with the performance and the result as he accentuated the positives from the game.
"We managed the game excellently in the last 15-20 minutes where the team showed their discipline," he said. "We had to do that tonight because whilst we were always confident of our ability, we had to prove that by matching the opposition first so that we could earn the right to progress.
"I'm very proud of all of the lads. It was a massive plus to keep a clean sheet and to score so many goals which I hope we will now use as a stepping stone to further success."
