Academy Preview - Bristol City

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010

The Under-18's return to Staplewood this weekend where they host Bristol City. Kick-off 11am.

Fresh from last weekend's 2-2 draw at Chelsea where the youngsters earned a point after going two goals down, Saints will be looking to make it a fourth home game unbeaten in the FA Premier Academy League.

In the build up to the game, Dave Puckett hopes that his players have been encouraged by the progress of first year scholar Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has recently made appearances in the first team squad.

"We've been delighted to be without him for the right reason," the youth team coach explained.

"He's kicked on and everyone in the Academy is thrilled for him. Hopefully now others can follow suit, and I know that all the other lads want to be the next one to come through. It's a great incentive for them as a group and as individuals."
