Andy Crosby

Posted on: Mon 25 Jul 2011

Andy Crosby followed manager Nigel Adkins to St. Mary's in September 2010 having spent six years at Glanford Park as a player and as a coach.

A key part of three of the Iron's most recent promotion teams, 'Crozzer' was one of former Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws' signings during the summer of 2004. Andy was brought in to plug a defence that conceded 73 goals the previous season.

United went on to concede just 42 goals in contrast in his first season changing one of the worst defences in the league to the actual best the season after.

He played a huge role in United's 2006-07 League One title-winning success, and enjoyed a solid campaign in the Iron's first taste of Championship football the year after.

A knee problem sidelined him for much of the second promotion campaign at Glanford Park, but he successfully made it to his twentieth year of a successful playing career.

Crosby initially broke through at Leeds United, but didn't make a first team appearance, before he went on to feature for Doncaster, Darlington, Brighton, and Oxford where he eventually carved out a reputation of being a leader at the heart of defence, which he carried on at Scunthorpe.
