Saints will get their first look at trialist Ode Thompson this Friday when he joins Mark Wotte's squad in pre-season training…

The 28-year old has been invited to Staplewood for the next two weeks but will not be eligible to play in either of next week's friendlies, with Saints due to play Eastleigh this Saturday and AFC Totton on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian-born forward holds Belgian nationality and can play as an out and out striker or in the hole behind a front two.

He has previously played with Champions League side RSC Anderlecht and a number of other Belgian clubs and would be available on a free transfer if his trial proves successful.

Mark Wotte said: "Ode will train with us for a few weeks and we will give him the opportunity to prove that he has the qualities and fitness to adapt to the English game.

"He has played in Belgium for his whole career and I have watched him over there a few time in the past and was impressed.

"We will take a look at him now so that we are better prepared to strengthen our squad if and when it becomes possible to do so."
