Saints manager Mark Wotte has given us his immediate reaction to Saints' takeover by Swiss businessman Markus Liebherr…
"I am delighted and very relieved," said the Dutchman. "I am very happy for the fans and all the people that have supported Southampton Football Club over the past four or five months. It's the perfect end to this story.
"I am delighted that the club now has an owner who has such a respectable reputation.
Now that we have secured our future I am looking forward to steadily building towards a better future on the pitch as well."
Assistant first team coach and former Saints player Michael Svensson also greeted the news with delight and spoke on behalf of the squad as whole.
"This is fantastic news for our future and it's the news that we've all been waiting for," he said.
"I'm delighted for everyone, the fans, the staff and it's up to us now to build ourselves back up the where we used to be.
Svensson revealed that the players left training this morning still in the dark about the club's long-term future, but were all now looking forward to a brighter future.
"It's been difficult," he continued. "People weren't getting paid when they should and other groups looked like securing the deal only to fall through at the last minute.
"It's been an issue for everyone involved with the club but we've all just tried to get on with it and now we can all look forward to a brighter future for Southampton."
