Scottish side Heart of Midlothian will come to St. Mary's on Saturday 25th July in the second home pre-season fixture of the campaign…

Following on from hosting Ajax on Saturday 18th July, the match against the Tynecastle outfit should provide a good test for Saints just a fortnight before Millwall come to town on the opening day of the League One season.

The game takes place on Saturday 25th July at St. Mary's with a 3pm kick-off time.

The Jambos have a little longer to prepare for the new season, but this will be a welcome test for them ahead of their first game of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League against Dundee United on the 15th August.

There are of course a few connections between Saints and Hearts including former manager George Burley who was in charge of both sides during the 2005/06 campaign.

Burley started the 05/06 season at Tynecastle with a squad that included another former Saint, Rudi Skacel who of course teamed up with Burley when the Scotsman took over at St. Mary's later that year.

Finnish goalkeeper Antti Niemi also joined Saints from Hearts in 2002 after spending three years at the Edinburgh outfit. The shot stopper amassed over 100 appearances for Southampton and started the F.A Cup final in 2003.

Current Jambos midfielder Andrew Driver was involved with England at the European Under-21 Championships in Sweden last month and has been linked with a move back to his home country in recent times.
