Lallana Wants More
Adam Lallana is relishing the trip to Swindon on Tuesday night and hopes that the games continue to come thick and fast.
The match at the County Ground comes just days after a long trip back from West Yorkshire where Saints hope to put a disappointing defeat behind them.
"It's a massive opportunity for us to have a game as quick as Tuesday after the match on Saturday so all the lads are bang up for it," Lallana affirmed. "It's kind of a local derby too as they are just up the road, so we've got to make a good impression - not just for the manager but for the fans as well because we've got to bounce back quickly.
"We've tried not to dwindle on Saturday, we know that we conceded from set pieces again and we perhaps tried to put the ball up to the front men too quickly but we've just got to concentrate on ourselves. Maybe we've got to get back to basics a little bit and then I'm sure the wins will start to flow for us this season."
The England Under-21 midfielder is backing new manager Alan Pardew to get things right on the pitch and is impressed with what he has seen so far from the 48 year-old boss.
"I'm enjoying it here," he said. "I'm playing under a good manager with a good bunch of lads. Rickie Lambert's come in and given us a presence up front so I'm enjoying playing with him and having game after game is what players want, even more so when you're winning so we need to get that right.
"There has been a lot of movement on and off the field in the summer, but we settled well last Tuesday and it was a shame that we couldn't build on that on Saturday. We're all confident, we know that we'll get knockbacks but it's a long season so we've just got to bounce back against Swindon.
"We have got a good mix of experience and youth but the manager is getting his message across and hopefully we can turn it into a performance on Tuesday and in the rest of the games. We were saying in the dressing room that we haven't won away since March so it'd be great to get a win and the short distance will hopefully see more fans come a long."
The 21 year-old also feels that he will continue to learn at the club as he gets to grips with a wide position in the side.
"I'm adapting to it the more I play. I played there last season but now I feel like I'm learning more about the defensive side of things and what is required from me with crosses and going narrow or wide. It's always better to see a lot a lot of the ball too because that suits my game more.
"You've got to have a good relationship with your full back and be talking to them during the whole game, so it's a big, big role to play out wide. I've got another side to my game that will hopefully come through the players around me.
"I can learn a lot from a player like Rickie Lambert," Lallana continued. "The way he handles himself in big games, his touch and presence is fantastic, whilst his goal scoring ratio speaks for itself at this level. With his experience and goals hopefully we can work around him and get up the table as quickly as possible.
"It shows why we brought him in and paid the money. He's a good lad off the field as well and he's settled in quickly, so the better service we give him the more goals he'll get.
"I just want to get on with my job, concentrating on football and playing in a winning team, hopefully getting into positive points as quickly as possible.
"It's not going to happen overnight, but I feel that the structure and the basis is there for the club to move forward again and I'm sure that it will."
