Former Colchester loanee Neal Trotman shared the home fans' frustrations after today's goalless draw at St. Mary's.
The 22 year-old centre-back was keen to stress that there is still a long way to go this season but believes that Saints will get it right soon and that one team will soon be on the receiving end of a hammering from Alan Pardew's side.
"We had a chance early on which was cleared over their bar by one of their defender's knees I think, so we were wondering then if it was going to be our day," he said exasperated.
"Maybe it wasn't meant to be today but I think we're due to give a team a hiding soon as long as we remain focused on doing what we're doing.
"Let's not forget we're only in September, we've got 40 games left but obviously we're taking it one game at a time at the moment, and we've got to look to kick on at Charlton now."
The on loan Preston man put in another all action display for Saints as he continues to grow into his new surroundings but he almost had an impact at the other end of the pitch as well.
"I came close to scoring at Stockport against Brentford here, and then today, I just like to try and get a connection on the ball when I go forward.
"I managed to keep Clive Platt fairly quiet today," Trotman added. "Obviously I know all about him form my time at Colchester last season, and in fairness I don't mind playing against that type of player, because I can learn from them and improve my own game.
"As a team we're getting used to one another, and at the back they made it difficult for us today, but once we get a win under our belts I'm sure that we'll kick on as a team.
"We have to keep looking to the next game because we know once we win one we'll be able to move on form there."
