Defender Radhi Jaidi has revealed the secret of Saints recent success stems from the hard work being put in at the training ground.
With four league wins in a row, and five in a row in all competitions, Saints have come a long way since the early season performances at Swindon and Huddersfield, during which they were still trying to find their feet after a less than ideal pre-season.
However, the likeable Tunisian believes that Alan Pardew's side has put that behind them now, and are concentrating on improving even further.
"We concentrate on what we do, what we work on and winning the games," he said. "That's more important for the moment.
"It's more important than speaking and saying 'we will target this and that. That will even attract the other clubs to challenge us.
"For the moment we're working on our training ground, hiding, no one can see what we are doing, but believe me we are working hard.
"Everyone is concentrating on our work, the work we do is right and the correct work will take us only in one way and that is to be successful.
"I'm not going to say we'll do this and that, because I know everything can happen in football, but our target is to go as far as possible and maybe as far as possible means we can reach the play-offs or better.
"It's hard work from here to the end of the season, but we still believe that we can do something."
This weekend sees Pardew's men travel to East London to take on a Leyton Orient side who come into the game on the back of a 4-0 thumping from Huddersfield. Jaidi is adamant, though, that it will not be plain sailing as Saints aim to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time.
"It's always a hard game," he added. "It's always a hard team to play against, Leyton Orient, but we will try to do our best.
"We have a target of three points so we will work for that and hopefully get a good result."
