Kelvin Davis insists that there is still work to be done and there will be no let up at Wycombe on Tuesday.
The shot stopper was delighted to pick up a win and a clean sheet against league leaders Norwich at the weekend, but he says that the squad will be keeping their feet on the ground.
"We have to approach it exactly the same," he told Saints Player. "If we take our foot off the gas and don't continue our efforts and the standards we have set ourselves then we will get undone.
"By no means are we going there expecting it will be an easy game. I don't think the pitch is in very good condition and I don't think they will be sitting there expecting us to beat them. We need to take the game to them, get on the front foot and make sure we come away with three points.
"They (Wycombe) got a decent win at the weekend so that will certainly pick them up and they'll be looking to put a run together to get them out of trouble as we are putting a run together to get us into the top half of the table, top six if you like. We are happy we have a game and happy we are playing well at the moment.
"We need to concentrate on each game. We need to get this game out of the way and then the next game and then see where we end up. If we start setting our sights too high, too early then the pressure could start to build and I think this may be something that has affected us in the past, we need to make sure we just beat whoever is in front of us and hopefully that will get us to where we want to be."
The Club captain has welcomed the new additions to the squad from the transfer window, and was pleased in equal measure for goal scorer Lee Barnard and the first clean sheet for the new back four at Norwich.
"It was our first clean sheet with us together so we are pleased, but I think there is still work to be done, however, we have shown that individually we are good players. It's about making sure the team collectively achieves more clean sheets.
"I was really chuffed for Lee because I think the manager said he missed a chance at Brentford and you could physically see him shrink a couple of inches because it was a big chance and it was a time in the game when we needed a goal and we ended up not winning the game possibly on the back of that, but in Lee's defense he has been training hard and continually getting in those positions to score goals.
"The manager starting him away at the top of the league shows his confidence in him, and he repaid himself and the rest of the team with a couple of goals so everyone in the dressing room was really chuffed for him.
"We had the radio on whilst we were getting changed after the match and it came up a surprise result," Kelvin added.
"Just the comment of it being a surprise result actually surprised me as I felt we were going there fully intent on winning the game. I can understand that point of view, but we have put in some very good performances lately, obviously the MK Dons game and then Portsmouth where the result, I feel, didn't match the performance we gave. If we stick to our discipline we can beat anyone."
