Alan Pardew hailed his team's display against Walsall at St. Mary's.

Saints ran out 5-1 winners despite falling behind early on in the game, but the manager paid tribute to the way his side responded with a supreme effort all round.

"I thought we were outstanding today, and I am ecstatic with that performance," he enthused. "It was the best performance at home in term of a complete performance, but the Norwich game away ran that close.

"There were no outstanding players today. Everyone was determined to show that we are a good team. I think it is something like twenty three games where we have lost three, drawn five and won fourteen and we showed that today."

The gaffer believes that the momentum is building within the squad and hopes to continue an unbeaten record in midweek when high flying Huddersfield Town visit the south coast.

"We are putting together a run that is as good as anyone and the fans were brilliant with us today.

"It's a big game and Tuesday night and we need to win, they are a good side."
