Club Captain Kelvin Davis and Saints fan Craig David were on hand to launch new multi-sport outdoor gym in the City yesterday.
The City of Southampton has launched a project with its very own taste of London 2012, thanks to the installation of the adiZone in Mansel Park - a giant multi-sport outdoor gym venue which aims to inspire the local community to get involved in sport. It was officially launched in Southampton by R&B superstar (and Saints fan) Craig David with Club Captain Kelvin Davis also on hand to meet the community and take a few punches from Craig at the MP3 Golden Ring Boxing Club!

The City has beaten off competition from around the country to host this prestigious facility, highlighting Southampton's commitment to the 2012 Olympic Games. adiZones, designed and developed by adidas, official Sportswear Partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, are permanent installations measuring 625 square metres. They boast facilities inspired by Olympic and Paralympic sports that include a basketball, a climbing wall, an outdoor gym and an open area to encourage dance, aerobics and gymnastics.
The new facility aims to stimulate interest in sport amongst young people and Saints in the Community are taking the lead by operating evening sessions at the site from Tuesday 16th March for young people aged 12-18 on a Tuesday and Thursday evening between 6-8pm. The sessions not only include football but will also offer DJing and streetdance, as well as linking with the successful Golden Ring boxing club to get young people active.
