Puncheon Believes In Saints
Jason Puncheon's career at Saints has started brightly, but at one time the game nearly got away from him.
The winger has endured a stop-start time in professional football having played across the football league, a success in itself having worked his way back in after being released by MK Dons as a teenager.
Spells at Barnet in League Two and Plymouth in the Championship were contrasting, before he returned 'home' to Milton Keynes in two separate loan spells, the second of which, was where he came across his new teammates when he played and scored in the Dons side beaten 3-1 by Saints in a League One game at St Mary's.
"I thought that they were the most talented side in the division that I'd played against," he recalls in tonight's matchday programme.
"And now that I've been here and played with them, I know they are.
"Paul Ince made me believe in myself again. Alan Pardew has convinced me I can drive on to better things."
At St. Mary's he is re-united with Kelvin Davis and David Connolly from their time at the Dons, and he is delighted to be a part of the flourishing Saints set up.
"For me it's my best chance of playing in the Premier League. I've got three and a half years here, and I seriously believe we have the ability here to make it in that time."
