Michail Antonio will savour his first league goal for Saints alongside his crucial cup strikes from this season.
The winger on loan from Reading has created a knack of finding the back of the net on a regular basis in knock out competitions this season and hopes that his effort against Charlton will maintain the belief that the play-offs are within reach.
"Spirits are high," he beamed. "We've got everyone behind us the fans are there 100 per cent, the gaffer believes we can do it and so do we, everyone is buzzing about it.
"There were times today when it was a bit scrappy, but when Charlton broke at us, the fans brought us back and we composed ourselves to get the win.
"We need to take points from the teams above us so that we can get into the play-offs.
"Every game this season has been make or break. We need to win each of our six games left, they are all cup finals, and hopefully we can win all of them."
Antonio cherished the moment by keeping hold of his match worn shirt, and re-affirmed the ambition that he and the team has for the rest of the campaign.
"We looked at the scores straight after because we do need teams to slip up so that we can get in, but if we win all of our games then we are going to get in there. If we do get into the play-offs then I feel that we will win them.
"We've got seven games to play and we need to win those seven so today was a good start which hopefully we can carry on against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
"For me, whatever happens in the summer happens, I'm just looking to play and score goals for Southampton.
"I've kept my shirt from this game and no-one is going to get that off me!"
