Alan Pardew returns to a former club from his playing days on Saturday, wary of a potential slip up.

The Saints manager spent just over a year with Yeovil Town during the eighties, and he is anticipating a competitive affair at Huish Park.

"I'm not sure they will come at us, but I think they will do everything they can tactically to win the game," he told Saints Player.

"I think that they will play a pretty solid team and they won't want to open up the pitch too much. It's difficult to do that with some of the players that we have got; Lallana, Puncheon, Antonio, Barnard, Connolly, Papa, Lambert, so it's down to us to cause them enough disruption to create a goal that makes Yeovil come out a little bit more.

"It could be very similar to the Bristol Rovers game. They tried to catch us on the break and nearly did, we were a hairs breadth away from being two nil down so we have to be on our toes the whole time.

"They are my old Club, and I know them well. I enjoyed my time there, I wasn't there long, but I enjoyed it and they have great fans and I am so pleased that they have established themselves as a Football League Club.

"They are at a different stadium now thank goodness as we won't have to play up a slope! They are a great Club, and a Club who have tried for many, many years to get into the Football League, now they are here and making a real good fist of it.

"On Saturday they had a great result and that will fill them with confidence. They are safe, I can't see them in any trouble now so they could perhaps play with a little freedom, and that could be dangerous for us because they have a good young team who pass the ball well, but if we turn up and we're on our game then we should win."

Escaping the results from Saints' play-off rivals is one thing that the gaffer can't seem to do, and he admits that he may cast an eye over Huddersfield's performance against Millwall tonight.

"I'm sure we will be looking at it, and getting texts on how it is going. Obviously if they win then it makes it more difficult for us, but there is a lot of pressure on them to win that game, and Millwall will want to win it as well as they can still go straight up so they could throw a bit of freedom at the game.

"I would take a draw now, because that would leave us one win away from the play-offs and if we could have taken that with four games to go, my goodness me I would have jumped at it.

"If they win we know we have to win anyway and it will just harden our resolve, but if they did drop points I will probably have to put some string on our players and hold them down because they will be roaring ready to go."
