Paul Wotton and Kelvin Davis anticipate England's World Cup bid being kick-started this evening.

The experienced duo have been glued to their screens throughout the tournament so far and are both anticipating an exciting competition, no matter who wins it.

"I think like the rest of us we're all waiting for it to kick-start into action, but it's a great occasion, and having games on all the time is great," Wotton explained.

"I think Argentina and Brazil look decent, it's the same old names that are up there and I'm sure Italy won't be far away too.

"I'd love England to win it, but I just can't see it, we seem to really struggle with expectation levels which must be crazy to live with. Are we ever going to win it? I'm not so sure, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

"The whole country goes mad for it which is understandable because it only comes around every four years. We have to improve a lot from the USA game, and I'd love to think it could happen."

Kelvin meanwhile, believes the game against Algeria is crucial, but is confident that England won't have too many problems this evening.

"This next game is vital," the 'keeper admitted. "It's a must-win and it's one that you'd expect us to win which is always a bit of a worry when you talk about England, but I think we'll do the job.

"I've been fortunate to catch a lot of the games. It's not quite got going yet, but it's always like that in the group stages, because teams don't want to lose. As the tournament goes on, I'm sure one or two heroes will emerge with great goals and saves to stick in the memory bank.

"Whether we'll win the World Cup I'm not so sure though, there are four, five, possibly six teams that could win it, but I do think we're one of them."
