The Saints Foundation is pleased to announce the first of three Official Charity Partners at Southampton Football Club for the 2010 / 11 season.
The official regional charity partner is Southampton Hospital Charity's Red & White Appeal, which aims to create the transplant treatment centre of choice at Southampton General Hospital, for patients with leukemia and other blood disorders from Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Channel Islands.
£5 million has already been secured from the Department of Health. This has funded a brand new extension to the hospital, housing state-of-the-art rooms for patients with double-aspect windows and private bathrooms.
With the support of the community and local businesses, the Southampton Hospital Charity's goal is to raise an additional £2.2million to complete the improvement project. This will fund a purpose built Day Case Unit for patients, which will be built next to the current inpatient services and the new extension.
The Day Case Unit will create an oasis of calm and comfort, co-located with the inpatient facilities. There will be a choice for patients of private or social areas for their treatment, and the specially designed unit will enable medical staff to vastly improve the quality of care for all.

The charitable appeal is named the 'Red & White Appeal' in recognition of the particular significance of red and white blood cells for blood cancer patients.
The Director of the Southampton Hospital Charity said, "We are so excited to be working with The Saints Foundation for the forthcoming season. Southampton Football Club's red and white colours will be a constant reminder of our Red & White Appeal to help people with life threatening blood cancers and we hope that all fans will show their support of this City's Hospital."
To commence the partnership, the Red and White Appeal receives a donation of £4,000 and the Saints Foundation looks forward to developing the relationship in order to support Southampton Hospital Charity's ambitions to raise £2.2million.
