SFC Debut: Bristol Rovers (A) 28th August 2010
Brazilian attacking midfielder 'Guly' do Prado joined Saints on loan in the August 2010 transfer window, a move which became permanent in January 2011 after making a lasting impression with six goals in seven games over Christmas/New Year in League One.
He went on to notch 11 times in total during his debut season which culminated in promotion back into the Championship.
A number of Serie A teams were reportedly interested in signing him at the time of his move most notably Chievo and Roma, but Saints swooped to take him from Italian side Cesena, where he was one of their key players.
do Prado has made a name for himself in Italy with his ability on the ball and natural attacking instincts. He played a key role for Cesena as they got promoted to Serie A in 2009/10, scoring nine goals in thirty four appearances.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Guly brings an exciting new dimension to the Saints first team squad, standing at over six feet tall, he adds a controlling and inventive presence to the centre of the park.
International clearance from the Italian FA held up his debut but he eventually made his debut at Bristol Rovers in a late cameo appearance during Saints' 4-0 win at the Memorial stadium.
Guly becomes the first Brazilian to play for the club for 116 years, the last was Charles Miller, the man credited for introducing the beautiful game to the South American country.
