SFC Debut: Charlton Athletic (A) 12th September 2009

Experienced 6' 3" defender Radhi Jaidi joined the Club on the last day of the 2009 summer transfer window.

His move to St. Mary's was originally held up due to work permit red tape issues after the former Tunisian national team captain was out of contract following his release by Birmingham City, but once cleared, he penned an initial two year deal on the south coast.

Having previously played in the top-flight with Bolton Wanderers, he joined Birmingham in the Championship and played 38 games during his first season at St. Andrew's as Steve Bruce's side won automatic promotion.

Outside of England, Jaidi has played for just one team, Esperance Sportive de Tunis, where he began his professional career in 1993, before becoming the first Tunisian to arrive in the Premier League.

Jaidi has firmly established himself on the international scene. He was a key part of side the lifted the 2004 African Cup of Nations and has also played for his country in two World Cups, scoring in a 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia at Munich's Allianz Arena in the 2006 competition.

He formed a reliable centre half partnership with Jose Fonte during the club's short spell in League One, as the duo helped the club to a new record of clean sheets in one season. Jaidi was rewarded with a one year extension to his deal following promotion, which will see him taste Championship football once more.
