Morgan Schneiderlin joined Saints from RC Strasbourg in June 2008, having been previously recommended by Saints former Academy supremo Georges Prost.

The French starlet signed a four-year contract in a deal that could rise to 1.5 million Euros.

Schneiderlin is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play in a more attacking role if required. He has progressed into a regular feature of the Saints side after a steep learning curve in his first year when the club was relegated from the second tier.

The youngster has taken steps to improve his all round game which have shown in his performances in League One, which in turn has seen him represent his country at Under 20 and Under 23 level in consecutive summers.

The cultured midfielder joined the growing list of players to extend their contracts with the club until 2014 following promotion back into the Championship.
