Oscar Gobern is a tall central midfielder who can also play out wide. He's got pedigree too as his older brother Lewis came through the Wolves Academy and was offered a two-year deal by Mick McCarthy.
Birmingham-born Gobern is a talented left-footed player with an eye for goal and a bit of pace to boot. He has also spent time at Villa's Academy since he was eight years old.
He flourished during the 2008/09 pre-season and later went on to be named as a substitute in the home game against Coventry City on 28th October 2008 before making his first team debut as a second half substitute in a dramatic turnaround match at Preston North End on 1st November where Saints came from two goals down to win 3-2.
In September 2009 Gobern joined fellow League One side MK Dons on a month's loan deal to get some further experience before returning to the south coast to make a handful of substitute appearances. His campaign was cut short however, by a hip injury which required an operation to keep him sidelined prior to the summer.
