Aaron Martin joined Saints from neighbours Eastleigh on an initial 18 month contract in November 2009 a month after his 20th birthday.
The centre-back, who is a graduate of the Spitfires' youth system, signed after a trial at the club having been being recommended by former Saint Ian Baird.
During that spell he impressed in the reserves' 1-1 draw at Plymouth Argyle, completing the full 90 minutes in front of on-looking Saints manager Alan Pardew.
Martin measures in at over 6 feet tall and is a former student at nearby Itchen College, during which time he represented the England schoolboys side.
